Brexit: Boris Johnson's lead negotiator, Lord Frost, quits the government
Boris Johnson's Brexit minister - Lord David Frost - has quit the government saying he is stepping down with immediate effect but "on good terms". In his letter to the PM, he blamed the direction of the government - high taxes, the push towards net-zero carbon emissions and most recently regulations to limiting the impact from COVID-19. Lord Frost previously talked up the prospect of the UK triggering Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol to collapse it while seeking a trade deal with the United States. When the European Commission called his bluff and the US stood firm on peace in Northern Ireland, critics said that Frost had overplayed his hand with limited options remaining.
