Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: / @aphsouswor1712 It's only May but it's already been a very noteworthy year for heavyweight boxing. The championships dominate the scene, naturally, with Anthony Joshua beating Joseph Parker to add the WBO title to his IBF, IBO, and WBA (Super) belts in late March. Deontay Wilder, the holder of the remaining elite heavyweight WBC belt, had stopped Luis Ortiz earlier in the month to retain his title, with both Joshua and Wilder now setting their sights on a massive undisputed fight. But if those two have taken most of the headlines, not far behind them is returning world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. Fury famously defeated Wladimir Klitschko for four world titles back in 2015 before relinquishing them amidst drug allegations a year later. Despite previously declaring he was retired, Fury has announced his anticipated comeback for next month, signing with boxing promoter Frank Warren. Fury did have an offer from Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport, however, but turned them down in favour of Warren. That was a move that surprised some, considering the waves Hearn has made in recent years, but Fury has revealed there was a very good reason why he rejected Matchroom. "It’s true - wanted a lot of money," said Fury. "Getting the Gypsy King in the ring to dance costs a lot. "I was happily retired, 27 stone with a hell of cash and I didn’t need to come back - boxing needed me. "So to get me out of retirement, I needed a God damn lot of money and Eddie Hearn could not afford it." As for why he opted for Warren, Fury had an answer for that, too. "They call him Frank the Magic Man and I needed a little bit of magic to get back to the top," he explained. "And plus he’s a good guy, he’s a boxing hall of fame promoter, which Eddie Hearn is not." Exactly why Hearn wouldn't be able to afford Fury is unclear. The 38-year-old just signed a $1billion deal in the USA to expand his brand there and is comfortably the number one promoter in the UK. There were questions about his rejection of Hearn from the getgo, with some accusing Fury of deliberately making a fight with Joshua as difficult to make happen as possible. Still, Fury's word is all we have to go on here - the gypsy king must have demanded an awful lot of money. Do YOU want to write for GiveMeSport?
