Far Cry 6 is a 2021 action-adventure first-person shooter game developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth main installment in the Far Cry series. The game was released on October 7, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. SYNOPSIS In 1967, a guerrilla uprising overthrows the dictator President Gabriel Castillo, leading to Yara's economic collapse; in 2014, his son Antón is elected president and promises stability with the creation of "Viviro", a new cancer treatment drug developed from Yara's tobacco. Seven years later, he announces a draft "lottery" to enslave workers for the tobacco fields. As the Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa (FND), the country's armed forces, begins rounding up poor citizens in the capital city of Esperanza, Dani joins with friends Lita Torres and Alejo Ruiz, planning to escape to the United States. Alejo is shot and killed for provoking the FND, while Dani and Lita run, reaching a boat headed for Miami. However, the boat is stopped and boarded by Castillo and his special forces. They discover that Castillo's son Diego is among the refugees. Taking his son with him, Castillo orders his right hand man, General Raul Sanchez, to sink the boat and kill everyone on it; Dani is the only survivor, washing ashore on Isla Santuario in the southwest of Yara. Joining the "Libertad" guerrilla movement against Castillo's regime, Dani meets ex-spymaster and weapon maker Juan Cortez, helps disrupt the production of Viviro on Isla Santuario, and breaks the blockade of the island, allowing Libertad forces to escape to their island headquarters. Libertad leader Clara Garcia sends Dani to link up with anti-Castillo forces throughout Yara, uniting them to besiege Esperanza and kill the Castillos. In Madrugada, Dani joins the Montero family, whose tobacco lands were taken over for the production of Viviro under the direction of General José Castillo, Antón's sadistic nephew and commander of Yara's Air Force. Carlos Montero, the family patriarch, sacrifices himself to rescue his son Alejandro, a former Castillo loyalist, from execution; this turns José's troops against him, as most were conscripted from workers in Carlos' fields. Attempting to kill Castillo during an Independence Day address in Esperanza, Dani is confronted by Diego, who reveals his father is dying and helps Dani escape. Returning to Madrugada, Dani and the Monteros draw José into the open and kill him. Dani is captured by Castillo and tortured by General Sanchez; Diego saves Dani by killing Sanchez, and demands that his father release Dani. Castillo complies, but throws a grenade into Dani's cell as he leaves. Dani survives and escapes. In El Este, the "Legends of '67", former revolutionaries who had toppled Castillo's father, and street gang "La Moral" help Dani hunt down Admiral Benítez, the commander of Yara's Navy, and Canadian imperialist businessman Sean McKay, who oversees Viviro's international distribution. Benítez is killed and her corpse publicly displayed as a message to the Castillo regime. When the guerrillas attack McKay's ship off the coast, Juan negotiates a deal with McKay to switch sides and offer his money for the revolution. According to player choice, Dani either kills McKay, negating the deal, or spares him to receive the cash. Castillo captures Clara and holds her at the "Eagle's Nest", where Dani confronts him. Castillo admits he has suffered from acute leukemia for 13 years, and that Viviro stopped working to treat it 6 months before. Impressed by Dani's feats and wishing to have a guide for Diego when he dies, Castillo offers to spare Clara's life if Dani becomes a general in his army. Juan, unable to get a clear sniper shot on Castillo himself, chooses to shoot Diego instead, but Dani knocks Diego out of the way; in response, Castillo kills Clara, leaving Dani as the reluctant new leader of Libertad. The Castillos return to Esperanza, which is surrounded by the united anti-Castillo forces. Dani enters Castillo's presidential palace, and confronts Castillo in his office. Diego refuses to let Dani kill his father. Dani promises to protect Diego, but Castillo, claiming that Diego would be tortured by the guerrillas, as he had been in 1967, shoots him, before committing suicide. Comforting Dani, Diego dies.
