La Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, Hôtel des Invalides, Musée du Louvre, Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel & La Seine are included in this video, featuring six of the most famous, visited and photographed sights in Paris, France. All footage in my video is from September and October 2020, during the Covid-19 restrictions at the time. From late October until this video is published, Paris is in lockdown due to the pandemic, and all sights featured in this video are closed to the public. La Tour Eiffel: https://www.toureiffel.paris/fr The Eiffel tower is a 324 meters high walled iron tower with antennas, located in Paris, at the northwestern end of the Champ-de-Mars park on the banks of the Seine river. Built by Gustave Eiffel and his collaborators for the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1889, this monument has become the symbol of the French capital, and a leading touristic site. Since opening to the public, it has welcomed more than 300 million visitors! Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile: http://www.paris-arc-de-triomphe.fr/# This iconic triumphal arch was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 as a tribute to his victories as Emperor of France, and it was finally completed in 1836, long after his death. Standing 50 meters high and 45 meters wide, the Arc de Triomphe is decorated with battle scenes and martial sculptures that includes La Marseillaise by Rude. More recently, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was placed beneath the arch in 1920, where an eternal flame burns in tribute to the French dead of both World Wars. Hôtel des Invalides: https://www.musee-armee.fr/accueil.html Hôtel des Invalides was founded by King Louis XIV to shelter 7,000 aged or invalid war veterans and the buildings were completed in five years, 1671-1676. The gold-plated dome of Cathédrale Saint-Louis des Invalides was built 1675–1706. In the chapels are the tombs of Napoleon I’s brothers Joseph and Jérôme, of his son Napoleon II, also known as King of Rome, whose body was returned from Vienna in 1940 by Adolf Hitler, and of the marshals of France. Immediately beneath the cupola is a red porphyry sarcophagus that covers the six coffins, one inside the other, enclosing the remains of Napoleon, which were returned from the island of St. Helena in 1840. A portion of the Invalides still serves as a military hospital. Musée du Louvre: https://www.louvre.fr/ Musée du Louvre is the national museum and art gallery of France, housed in part of a large palace in Paris that was built on the right-bank site of the 12th-century fortress of Philip Augustus. It is the world’s most-visited art museum, with a collection that spans work from ancient civilizations to the mid-19th century. The Louvre ceased to be a royal residence when Louis XIV moved his court to Versailles in 1682. In 1793 the revolutionary government opened to the public the Musée Central des Arts in the Grande Galerie. Under Napoleon the Cour Carrée and a wing on the north along the rue de Rivoli were begun. In the 19th century two major wings, their galleries and pavilions extending west, were completed, and Napoleon III was responsible for the exhibition that opened them. You will find the Mona Lisa here along other masterpieces and marvels. Arc de Triomphe du Carrouse: https://www.napoleon.org/jeunes-histo... Construction of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel started in 1806 (the same year as the much larger Arc de Triomphe l'Étoile). The whole structure is 23 metres wide, 7 metres deep and 19 metres high, displaying eight Corinthian columns topped with statues of soldiers. Positioned on the top of the Arc de Triomphe de Carrousel were four gilded bronze statues of horses along with a chariot, that were taken by Napoleon as trophies from the St Marks Basilica and square in Venice. They were later returned after Napoleons defeat at Waterloo in 1815. The bas reliefs of this arch depict both military victories and diplomatic victories such as the Battle of Austerlitz and the Treaty of Pressburg. This triumphal arch was completed in 1808. La Seine: https://www.marina-de-paris.com/fr/ The best way to experience the river Seine, that runs through Paris, is simply having a lunch or dinner cruise on it with someone special. Various options are available and so are the prices and operators. Pick one that suites your itinerary and budget. https://www.jeandar.net/ Music: Jean Dar - Ici Aujourd'hui Disparu Demain Album: Tears Of Joy https://www.jeandar.com
