Free To Rejoice: Philippians 4:8-9 "The Joy of Godly Thinking"

Last week, we looked at the joy of standing firm in the Lord. We walked through three practical ways to stand firm—Live in Gospel harmony with other believers (using differing gifts and abilities to advance the one Gospel), grow in godly tranquility (rejoice as your trust in the Savior grows and matures), and pray in grateful confidence (giving thanks as we humbly bring our needs to the Lord). This week, we are going to finish the passage and examine the last two practical ways to stand firm in the Lord—godly thinking, and godly action. Obviously, the Christ-follower’s mind is a major battleground in the Spiritual war we are in. The enemy would love nothing more that to get you to waste this precious mind in either lazy thoughtlessness or in misguided perversion. And since our thoughts lead directly to our actions, as we unpack these two verses, we will be looking at the how and what of godly thinking then moving into the how and what of godly action. Finally, we will close out examining why all of this is important.
