UK: US PRESIDENT CLINTON: ARRIVAL IN BELFAST

(30 Nov 1995) Natural Sound US President Bill Clinton touched down in Belfast on Thursday morning to become the first U-S leader ever to visit Northern Ireland. Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton were greeted by the British Minister in charge of the province, Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Patrick Mayhew and senior officials. President Clinton touches down in Belfast for a busy day. The president's first engagement will be his keynote speech of the day at the Mackie Metal factory in West Belfast. He then goes on to Londonderry and later this evening will switch on the Christmas Tree lights outside Belfast's City Hall. He is scheduled to meet leaders of the main political groups in Northern Ireland, including pro-British Unionists and Gerry Adams, leader of the I-R-A's political wing Sinn Fein.
