Daily Gospel - Sunday, October 26, 2025 - Luke 18:9-14 - Catholic Bible
Welcome to our daily encounter with the Word of God! Today, we reflect on the readings from the Book of Sirach (Sirach 35:15b-17,20-22a), the Second Letter of Saint Paul to Timothy (2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18), and the Gospel according to Saint Luke (Luke 18:9-14). These passages invite us to humility, perseverance in faith, and trust in God’s justice. First Reading (Sirach 35:15b-17,20-22a): The Book of Sirach reminds us that God is a just judge who shows no favoritism. He listens attentively to the prayer of the oppressed and the humble. Their cry reaches heaven, and the Lord’s justice acts in favor of those who trust in Him. This passage teaches that God looks at the heart. He is not impressed by appearances but moved by sincerity and humility. A humble and faithful prayer never goes unanswered. Second Reading (2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18): Saint Paul, nearing the end of his life, speaks with serene confidence. He has “fought the good fight,” “finished the race,” and “kept the faith.” Though abandoned by many, he acknowledges that the Lord stood by him and gave him strength. This reading encourages us to remain steadfast in faith even through trials. God never abandons those who remain faithful to Him, and a crown of righteousness awaits all who persevere in love and faith. Gospel (Luke 18:9-14): Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. The Pharisee boasts of his good deeds, while the tax collector humbly prays: “O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” This parable reminds us that true prayer flows from humility. Before God, a contrite heart is more valuable than any outward appearance of virtue. “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Reflection and Call to Conversion Today’s readings call us to humility and sincere faith. God hears the cry of the humble and strengthens those who persevere in His ways. May we learn from Saint Paul and the tax collector to trust fully in God’s mercy and to walk humbly with Him each day. 📖 Readings of the Day: First Reading: Sirach 35:15b-17,20-22a Second Reading: 2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18 Gospel: Luke 18:9-14 🌟 Related Hashtags: #BibleReading #DailyReflection #WordOfGod #Humility #GospelOfTheDay #FaithAndPerseverance #DivineJustice #CatholicBible 💡 Become a channel member and receive benefits: / @bibliacatolica 📲 Follow us also: TikTok: / bibliacatolicaonline Instagram: / bibliacatolica Telegram: https://t.me/bibliacatolicaonline Twitter: / bibliacatolica Facebook: https://fb.me/bibliacatolicaonline/ Pinterest: / bibliacatolica
