#gospeloftheday 🤍 A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus told his disciples this parable: "A man, going on a journey, called his servants and put them in charge of his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. The one who had received five talents went immediately to trade with them and made five more. The one who had received two talents did likewise and made two more. But the one who had received one talent went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. After a long time, the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came and brought five more, saying, 'Master, you left me five talents; look, I have made five more.' His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Since you have been faithful over a very small matter, I will give you great authority; enter into your master's joy.” Then the one who had received two talents came and said, “Master, you left me two talents; look, I have gained two more.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Since you have been faithful over a very small matter, I will give you great authority; enter into your master's joy.” The one who had received one talent came and said, “Master, I knew that you are a hard worker, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter seed. I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Here is what is yours.” The master replied, “You lazy and careless employee! Did you know that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? You should have put my money in the bank, so that when I returned, I could collect my share with interest. Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten. For to him who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. And throw that worthless employee outside into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Word of God.
