Genesis 35:18 (KJV); And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.” Life, society and family have a way of labelling us. They may judge us based on our physical abilities, appearance and social status. Unfortunately, some people are victims of these labels and some have carried them from the time they were young into their old age. Their parents called them stupid while they were growing up and they embraced this as an integral part of their identity. Once, when a young woman annoyed her mother, she was told, ‘You will also suffer with your children when you give birth.’ That is a label. Some people were labelled by authority figures such as teachers who convinced them that they could not excel in certain subjects. In our theme scripture, Benoni was a label and because Jacob was spiritual enough to understand the consequences of such a label, he wasted no time in changing it. You must have the wisdom to discern which label is not of God and CHANGE IT! Carry the God labels, that you are above and not beneath, a head and not a tail, more than a conqueror through Christ, healthy, prosperous, full of power and wisdom, and shining with the glory of God. Hallelujah! FURTHER STUDY: Philippians 4:13, 1 John 4:4. GOLDEN NUGGET: You must have the wisdom to discern which label is not of God and CHANGE IT! PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. I am called and labelled by You. I disassociate from every name that is not of You, given to me by men. I know that I am God-begotten.
