12/19/21 - Christmas Presence Part 4: I Am the Good Shepherd,
CrossRoads Community Church Sermon Summary Sheet, Week of December 19, 2021 “CHRISTMAS PRESENCE…A Study of the “I Am Sayings of Jesus” John 10: 11-15 INTRODUCTION: One of the questions Jesus asked His disciples was “Who do you say that I am?” (Matt. 16:15). Peter, inspired by God, said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Beyond this main truth, Jesus gave several “I Am” statements that help us to know and follow Him. Today we will look at “I am the Good Shepherd.” 1. JESUS REFLECTS THE FATHER “’I am the good shepherd.’” John 10:11 “”No one is good but One, that is, God.’” Matthew 19:17 Sinless 1 Peter 2: 21-25 Submissive John 10:15 2. JESUS IS THE REASON FOR OUR FAITH “’The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.’” John 10:11 Jesus Made the Sacrifice 2 Corinthians 5:21 Jesus is Our Savior John 10: 27-28 3. JESUS RELATES TO THE FATHER AND THE FLOCK “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.’” John 10:14-15 Jesus is our Mediator 1 Timothy 2:5 CONCLUSION All we like sheep have gone astray, and we need a Good Shepherd to lead us to salvation and abundant life. Our goal must be to follow Him in the Way, where we too reflect the Father, show others what it means to have faith, and get to know and obey His voice more fully every day.
