Advent at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral Come join us as we await the coming of the blessed Christ. Come, thou long expected Jesus! Advent I - Getting Ready 10 am - Sunday, November 30 To deepen our Advent journey, this year we will work together to create an Advent calendar of images and reflections each Sunday. We’ll also show you how to do home liturgy before dinner each Sunday. Advent II- St. Nicholas Sunday & Potluck 10 am - Sunday, December 7 Join with us as we light the Advent wreath and have a most special visitor! During the intergenerational sermon, St. Nicholas will come to tell a story and hand out treats for children. Our kids will also sing for us! Stay for a Potluck luncheon after the service. Advent III - A Special Gift of Quiet 10 am - Sunday, December 14 After a beautiful Advent liturgy, join Dean Abigail for a short experience of contemplative prayer for the season. Advent IV - Christmas Pageant and “Greening” 10 am - Sunday, December 21 During the service, our children will tell the story of Jesus’ birth in our annual pageant. Then, join us for threats and a “carol sing” as we “green” the Cathedral for Christmas. Night Church 5 pm - Sunday, December 7 Join us in welcoming the Christian association at Penn for a contemplative service of Night Church. A simple supper will follow. 20th Annual Christmas Lessons & Carols 10 am - Saturday, December 13 Join us in person or online for ta simulcast from the Cathedral in the US and the Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, Palestine. The Most Rev. Dr. Hosam E. Naoum, Archbishop, Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem will preach.
