Colorado shooting: Police describe "haunting" search for motive in deadly supermarket shooting |FULL
Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold and Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty held a news conference Friday to provide an update on the investigation into a mass shooting at a supermarket Monday that killed ten people. Herold said determining the motive will be “haunting” for officers until it is figured out. "Like the rest of the community, we too want to know why. Why that King Soopers, why Boulder, why Monday, and unfortunately at this time we still don’t have those answers," Herold stated. Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, faces 10 counts of murder and an attempted murder charge stemming from Monday's rampage. Herold and Dougherty also said Alissa purchased a Ruger AR-556 pistol, a weapon that resembles a semi-automatic rifle, legally six days before the attack. Alissa did not use another handgun also in his possession, they said. Alissa made his first court appearance on Thursday. He is being held without bail and is due to undergo a mental health examination. Dougherty said additional first-degree attempted murder charges would be filed against Alissa in the coming weeks.
