Featuring roguelike elements and covering the psychological horror genre. The player controls Selene Vassos (Jane Perry), a space pilot with a suit and high-tech weapons who is lost on the alien planet Atropos and trapped in a time loop. Selene is revived after each death, continuing her pattern of traveling to new places and confronting extraterrestrial creatures with evolving visions in an ever-changing world. The game is divided into two parts, each with three biomes. If the player dies during a run, they are sent to the beginning of the half. Selene can dash and subsequently obtain a grappling hook that allows her to shoot to certain locations in a room. The game features a wide range of weaponry, from a simple handgun to an Electropylon Driver. Each weapon has its own set of qualities that may be raised up to gain increased perks that deliver greater damage. Selene also has a melee weapon with which she may strike adversaries, shatter resource geodes, and break down barricades. #Returnal
