THERESE OF LISSIEUX DAY -6 DESIRE FOR HEAVEN A Prayer of Holy Longing: Inspired by St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face O gentle Little Flower of Carmel, St. Thérèse, beloved child of God, you once said How I thirst for Heaven—that blessed habitation where our love for Jesus will have no limit! But to get there we must suffer… we must weep… Well, I wish to suffer all that shall please my Beloved. you who lived with a burning desire for heaven—not as a distant dream, but as the very heartbeat of your soul—teach us to yearn as you did. Kindle within us that same fire of love that consumed your heart, that made every breath a prayer and every sorrow a step toward eternity. You walked the hidden path of spiritual childhood, embracing humility and surrender as your crown. In silence and simplicity, you offered each small act—a smile, a sacrifice, a prayer—as a fragrant rose to your Beloved Jesus. You did not seek greatness, but intimacy. Not applause, but union. And in your final moments, you welcomed death not with fear, but with joy, knowing it was the doorway to the eternal embrace of Love Himself. St. Thérèse, draw us into your longing. Help us to lift our eyes beyond the veil of this passing world. Teach us to live each day with heaven in our hearts, with eternity as our compass. May we see suffering not as punishment, but as a sacred offering. May we see joy not as fleeting, but as a glimpse of the divine. And may our weaknesses become the very places where grace enters and transforms. Let us walk your Little Way—with trust, with tenderness, with total surrender. Help us to love the saints as our companions on the journey, to unite our prayers with theirs, and to seek holiness not in grand gestures, but in hidden faithfulness. You promised to spend your heaven doing good on earth. So we ask you now to shower us with your roses. Let your intercession be a sign of God’s mercy and nearness.
