Mary and Martha: Finding True Rest in Christ (Luke 10:38–42 – Sermon: “The Gospel: Rest”)

In a world that celebrates productivity, ambition, and constant busyness, Jesus offers a surprising invitation: rest begins not by doing more, but by drawing near to Him. Through the familiar story of Mary and Martha, this message explores why so many of us live anxious, exhausted, and distracted lives, and how the gospel reorders our priorities by revealing the one thing that is truly necessary. Luke 10 shows the difference between serving to earn love and serving because we are already loved. Ultimately, the gospel reveals that true rest is not found in what we do for God, but in what Christ has done for us. Jesus bore the ultimate burden on the cross so that weary sinners could find true rest in Him.
