CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS THE OLD FASHIONED WAY - Crown It With A Star Matthew 2:1-12 - We have a tradition of placing a star on top of our Christmas trees. The star reminds us of the star that God placed in the sky to lead the magi to their Lord and Savior. There was a longing in the hearts of these men, a longing to reconnect with God. How they could reconnect and what a child born in Bethlehem might have to do with this was no doubt mysterious to them. The invitation of the star is what started them on their journey back to God. In Philippians Paul calls us to shine like stars in this world as we hold out the word of life. Christmas is one of the most opportune times to let our light shine as we invite others to come and see this child born in Bethlehem and learn to better understand the mystery of what God in his love has done for us. Who will you invite to Bethlehem’s manger this Christmas Eve? Isaiah 7:10-14 – The Lord promised that deliverance would come through the gift of Immanuel. And how would we recognize him? He would be born of a virgin. Romans 1:1-7 – After thousands of years of God’s promises, St. Paul sees them all fulfilled in Christ. Jesus is Immanuel, true God and true man. Matthew 1:18-25 – In faith, Joseph accepted that within the womb of his bride-to-be was Immanuel—the very Son of God, the promised Savior from sin. Preacher: Pete Panitzke
