FO° Insights: The political cost of the Russia-Ukraine war with Atul Singh
@FairObserver #russia #ukraine #ussr #putin #china The Russian Empire and the Soviet Union collapsed, and the future of Russia is uncertain. The potential collapse of Russia depends on factors like a catastrophic military defeat, high casualties, and severe economic suffering. Speaker: Atul Singh, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Fair Observer The current regime in Russia is kleptocratic and lacks a strong ideological foundation. Vladimir Putin may not stay in power for long, especially if the war ends badly for him. Russia's strength as a defense exporter will weaken due to difficulties in ramping up production and the negative reputation of its military equipment. China could take advantage of Russia's weakness and become more influential in the region. There are concerns that China might prop up a weakened Russia and form an alliance that challenges the West. Russia and China have border issues and geopolitical rivalries, but pressure from the West may push them closer together. Russia's economy is not in the best shape, despite some stabilization efforts. The ability to win wars depends on a country's ability to manufacture advanced goods, which Russia lacks. Russia can cause a global economic crash and destabilize regimes but lacks advanced manufacturing capabilities. The future for Russia is bleak, and significant changes are expected in the country's governance and borders.
