Travis Orbin - Sho+gun Sea-bass Session - "Vast and Cruel"

I was recommended for this single as a result of my work with Enemy Gods mastermind Matt Marcel, who mixed and mastered this release. It's now available on Bandcamp, and will see a worldwide streaming release on 05MAY. I was contacted just a couple months ago, in March, to contribute to this instrumental piece. The programmed drums within the demo were fairly meat and potatoes. I altered the feel/backbeat of some sections, changed and added fill-ins and other idiosyncrasies, and tried to furnish the tune with a more dynamic arc. I really like the part at 4:02-4:15; there's also a metric modulation at 2:16, and a full bar's worth of 'linear singles' to cap off the energy and close it out. I believe this is the first video I've posted that features a left-side effects cymbal (in this instance a mini china), though I've already tracked quite a bit of material with it, both for sessions and solo pursuits. The ride mic picks it up surprisingly well.
