Mexicans hold vigil for El Paso victims

(4 Aug 2019) A candlelight vigil for the victims of a shooting attack in El Paso, Texas, was held in the border city of Ciudad Juárez on Saturday. Officials say 20 people were killed and another 26 injured in the shooting in a busy shopping area in El Paso, located by the border with Mexico. Three Mexicans were among the dead, Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced in a video published on Twitter. Ciudad Juárez resident Lucía Valenzuela said it was difficult to ignore what had happened so close to home. Two law enforcement officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity identified the suspect taken into custody as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius.    According to El Paso Police, authorities are investigating a hate crime as among the possible motives.
