
Economic Survey Lecture 3: Agriculture & Food Management | Vajiram & Ravi
The above video lecture is based on the Economic Survey 2022-23. Vajiram and Ravi will be publishing a series of lectures by Jayant Parikshat Sir, Indian Economy faculty for the General Studies Pre-cum-Main Comprehensive Programme. It discusses various schemes that government has launched in line with recommendations of “Committee on Doubling Farmer’s Income”. It also argues how allied sector’s contribution in agriculture GVA is increasing overtime and various schemes undertaken by government to improve it further. This chapter also discusses various reforms related to Cooperatives in India in recent times. In food security. the legislation-backed nationwide food management programme, the National Food Security Act (NFSA), is discussed. To remove the financial burden of the poor, the Government has taken a decision to give free foodgrains to about 81.4 crore beneficiaries under the NFSA for one year from January 1, 2023. The Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2022-23 in Parliament, which projects a baseline GDP growth of 6.5 per cent in real terms in FY24. The projection is broadly comparable to the estimates provided by multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, the IMF, and the ADB and by RBI, domestically.
