REDEEMING PAIN | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (September 25, 2022) with Sign Language Subscribe to JesComTV http://bit.ly/3qN0biC #TheWordExposed #CardinalTagle #26thSundayinOrdinaryTime We are on the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time; and today’s Gospel directs our attention to the interplay between Lazarus and the rich man “who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day,” ignoring Lazarus “lying at his door [and] covered with sores.” The rich man would recognize Lazarus only in death. Lazarus “was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham” while the rich man found himself in “the netherworld, where he was in torment.” He wanted Lazarus “to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool [his] tongue.” What does this teach us? Friends, the Gospel reminds us the importance of feeling the pain of the poor among us. Such pain would rouse us from indifference. ______________ The Word Exposed with Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples reflects on Sunday's Mass readings each week.
