Actually EASY for Beginners - Cargo Light Removal | Ford Transit Camper Van Conversion Series [ 6 ]
Follow along as I self-build my own unique camper van inside a 2015 Ford Transit 350 Extended Cargo Van -- with no experience. ...and when I say "no experience," I mean ZERO EXPERIENCE! I have never done anything like this before, so I am learning as I go. I will make some mistakes, but that's okay. Here, I am removing the cargo lights from the cargo area of my van so that my lights are no longer connected to my engine/van battery. Unfortunately, there is no "off switch" for these lights, and they stay on as long as you have a door open, and even for another 10(ish) minutes after shutting your doors. I thought about adding a switch of some kind, but realized I wanted different lighting anyway, so a full removal was the best decision for me. This will allow me to fully insulate inside the ceiling ribs and then cover it up with a wood ceiling. The only tools I used were a pry bar (just to get the plastic encasing off of the main wire harness for access) and a flat-head screwdriver. No fancy tools needed here!
