10 things I wish someone had told me about how to PRACTICE JAZZ

I didn't really know where to start or what mattered, or what to listen to. Even though that wasn't really that long ago, with YouTube etc there's a much more clear path, as well as easy access to all of the great Jazz music. When thinking about actually PRACTICING JAZZ, it seems endless - should I learn altered scales, chord scale theory, diminished arpeggios, how to play All the Things You Are in all 12 keys?
