MUR - On Assignment HDNews | Jena 6 Chronicles The March

I travel to Jena Louisiana to cover a rally for 6 young black men who came to be known as the Jena 6. This was a big story at the time. I worked as a field producer with photojournalist Mario Page for HDNews. The Jena Six refers to six African American teenagers from Jena, Louisiana, who were controversially charged with attempted murder in 2006 after a fight with a white student, following a series of racial incidents at their high school, including nooses being hung from a tree. The case sparked national attention and large civil rights protests due to perceived racial bias in the legal process, with the students facing severe charges that were later reduced, leading to convictions for lesser charges like battery.
