25 years ago, in order to address a lack of healthcare professionals on the east coast of Taiwan, as well as offer education for children from poor indigenous families, Master Cheng Yen founded the Tzu Chi Junior College of Nursing in 1989. Graduates of the program were not only trained to be top notch nurses, but model members of society as well.
