Christ the King Sunday (Nov 22 2020)

Shepherds don’t study strategy and war and lead armies into great battles where boys do not enter. And kings don’t go out into the fields to watch over the sheep and tell them where to go and make sure they have enough food and water. Shepherds don’t sit on magnificent thrones with the best of linens to wear and the choicest food to enjoy and wealth beyond what they can use. Kings don’t sleep under the stars or in tents wearing meager clothes and just getting by as one of society’s lowliest occupations and classes. So why are we talking about shepherds on Christ the KING Sunday? Because while our Lord reigns supreme as king, he cares for his people with the heart of a shepherd.
