Too many memories on every corner, too many ghosts inside familiar streets, too many emotions attached to places that once felt alive. “100 Miles Away” was born from that exact feeling. The feeling of getting into an old Chevrolet Camaro after midnight, leaving the neon lights behind, and driving toward the desert with no real destination — only the need to breathe again. I wanted this song to feel like a forgotten 1980s highway anthem playing through FM radio static somewhere in the middle of the night. Rain on the windshield, faded motel signs, empty gas stations, old cassette tapes, distant headlights crossing lonely roads. A song about emotional escape, heartbreak, freedom, and trying to outrun memories that still follow you no matter how far you go. This track was heavily inspired by cinematic synthpop, late-night AOR ballads, desert highways, biker movie atmospheres, and the emotional energy of classic 80s radio songs. Everything about it was made to feel physical, warm, nostalgic and alive — like driving through the darkness while the engine hum becomes the only thing louder than your thoughts. If you’re listening tonight, tell me: Where would your midnight road take you? 🌙 Lyrics: Desert wind across the highway Moonlight painted on the sand City lights fading behind me Like a life I couldn’t stand Your old Camaro through the darkness Silver smoke beneath the stars FM static on the radio Trying to hide these scars I left around 2 AM With tired eyes and nowhere planned Downtown glowing in the rearview Like memories I couldn’t stand Too many nights inside those streets Too many ghosts inside my head Every corner held your shadow Every word we never said So I kept driving toward the desert Past motel signs and county lines Watching all the neon disappear Into endless midnight skies Every mile felt like freedom Every mile hurt the same Like trying to outrun a fire Still whispering your name 100 miles away Out where the desert meets the night Just me and this Camaro Under pale satellite lights 100 miles away Trying to lose what I became The city and the memories And everything attached to your name But somewhere through the engine noise I still hear your voice again 100 miles away And I still can’t escape it yet Gas station coffee near Nevada Cheap cigarettes and faded signs Truckers staring at the television glow While storms rolled through the night I slept parked beside the highway With old love songs playing low And every passing pair of headlights Made me think you’d finally show Some hearts leave the city physically But never really leave at all Because memories hit harder When there’s nobody left to call Every sunrise in the desert Feels colder than before Like freedom always costs A little more and more 100 miles away Still driving through the dark tonight With headlights cutting through the silence And your ghost beside my side 100 miles away But your shadow follows me Through empty roads and motel rooms And every memory And somewhere in the endless desert I still see your eyes again 100 miles away Still chasing what could’ve been Maybe I just needed distance From the noise back home From every street that carried echoes Of being too alone But no matter how far I drive now No matter what I leave behind Some memories keep following you Like headlights in the night 100 miles away Still burning underneath these stars Like a runaway soul in a Camaro Trying to outrun scars 100 miles away And the city feels so far But your love still hits like thunder No matter where you are And if someday I stop driving And let the darkness end 100 miles away I’d probably do it all again 🌙
