Ghana Premier League club Medeama SC have qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-0 win over South African club Mamelodi Sundowns. The Tarkwa based club overturned a two goal deficit to qualify on away goal’s rule at the Sekondi Stadium in Ghana. Medeama conceded three late goals in South Africa after an early lead to lose 3-1 to Sundowns in the first leg. Platini was banned from all football-related activity last year, after receiving a "disloyal payment" from then-FIFA president Sepp Blatter in 2011. The Frenchman, who continues to deny wrongdoing, has since seen that suspension reduced to four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but they did not overturn his ban when their verdict was delivered on May 9. Following that decision, Platini confirmed his intention to resign.
