DNS Bear Position - Core Stability Exercise
Bear Position Bear position is intended to load all 4 extremities (arms and legs) while maintaining a neutral spine and pelvis. If you have back pain or recovering from back pain, this would be a great position to start loading your back to strengthen and make it more resilient. In this exercise sequence, @drtmagee demonstrates the bear position with multiple different variations on how to challenge yourself. After finding a neutral position, try taking away a singe support such as an arm and leg. The goal is to keep your center of mass and limit body sway by maintaining proper abdominal breathing and activating your core musculature. If this is too easy for you, try taking a single arm and opposite foot away. We like to call this exercise the “Bear Dog” since it’s similar to the Bird Dog exercise demonstrated in past posts but with increased load to the body making it more challenging. Play around in this position today and challenge your body to make it more resilient than ever. Let’s come out of this quarantine better and stronger!
