It's Not Going To Work
Danny Kruger’s interview with New Culture Forum is infuriating. The Reform MP says demographic change is a legitimate concern, the growth of Islam is a problem, and millions of legal migrants were brought here against our will. But he refuses to do anything about it, because it would be illiberal. He says it's "absolutely" reasonable for Brits not to want to be a minority by 2063, but then says Afghans are "equal heirs" to England as the Anglo-Saxons. He admits "ethnos is relevant" to whether or not someone belongs to a nation, but says wanting "privileged access" to public services or political office because you have an ancestral tie to your country is "a dangerous line to take and one we absolutely need to police." Kruger says if Britain were to become majority Muslim, it "would be unrecognisable", but insists "I have absolutely no objection to Muslims. As a man of faith, I respect people who believe in God... That's a good thing for our society to have." "It's not about an insistent mono-culture, mono-religion being enforced on the country. Quite the reverse," Kruger says, praising the Church of England for being "an umbrella under which all other faiths could shelter." He suggests the solution to demographic change and sectarianism is for schools to teach British values: "To ensure people that are born here, no matter what ethnicity they're from, their family background, genuinely grow up as little Brits..." He cites Katharine Birbalsingh and the Michaela School as his ideal model. This is incoherent. We’re well past platitudes about “British values”. We don’t have time for liberal delusions and cognitive dissonance. Integration hasn’t worked. We shouldn't gamble our civilisation on Kruger being "hopeful that we can do it."
