U.S. military conducts successful THAAD test amid North Korea tensions

The U.S. military said its THAAD system in Alaska successfully detected, tracked and intercepted a medium-range missile on Sunday,... just two days after Pyongyang conducted its second intercontinental ballistic missile test. This is the 15th successful test of its THAAD weapon system, and the Pentagon says the test is expected to further enhance the capability of U.S. anti-missile defense system. Also on Sunday,... the U.S. flew two supersonic B-1B bombers over the Peninsula in a show of force. The bombers had taken off from a U.S. airbase in Guam, and were joined by South Korean fighter jets during the exercise. Washington and Seoul are expected to increase the level of pressure against the regime with their scheduled joint military drills in August.
