Wife organ donor for husband
LeRoy, N.Y. - Julie Boneberg always knew her husband would eventually need an organ donation. The 39-year-old just didn't realize, she would be the donor. "My mother had a transplant, my uncle had a transplant, my grandmother never made it to a transplant. One of my cousins passed away from it," said Brian. Doctors say Brian's kidneys are the size of a football, when they should be the size of a fist. "You don't have to be a spouse. Anybody can donate a kidney and there are so many people who have been waiting years and years and he's very lucky," says Julie of her husband Brian. "He doesn't have to do that, but unfortunately there are a lot of people who are out there waiting for a kidney." According to the National Kidney Foundation, there are 123,000 Americans currently on a waiting list for a lifesaving organ transplant. Of those, more than 101,000 need a kidney, but only 17,000 people receive one each year. It's rare, but the couple ended up being a good match for an organ transplant. They have two children, Kaylee, 20, and Zachary, 15, who say their parents are a perfect match in more than one way. "They still act like teenagers in love," says Kaylee. "They cuddle on the couch and hold hands. It's nice living in a household with parents who really love%
