The Iraqi Supreme Court orders suspension of Kurdistan referendum

The Iraqi Supreme Court has ordered the suspension of a referendum on Kurdish independence. The court said it still needs to examine complaints that allege the vote planned for September 25th violates the Constitution. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has formally demanded a suspension. Turkey on Monday deployed tanks in a military drill near the Iraqi border, saying the vote will harm its national security.
