Redefine Possible: Code, Analyze, Visualize - Getting Started with Spatial Data Science Using Python

Welcome to Workshop Wednesdays with Mentor Me Collective! March's Theme is Pioneer Progress, Redefine Possible! We're celebrating Women's History Month & International Women's Day with some incredible Women Techmakers who are shaking the world with Impact. This session will be hosted by Philippa B., a Geospatial Specialist with AI/ML, Security - MA in Urban Planning, MS in Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence with a GIST Certificate (and in USC Law for Privacy Law & Cybersecurity Certificate). This hands-on workshop will introduce you to spatial data analysis using Python and Google Colab. We'll cover the basics of working with geospatial data formats, performing common spatial operations, and creating compelling visualizations. Participants will learn how to load, clean, analyze, and visualize spatial data within a free cloud-based Colab notebook, enabling them to explore patterns, trends, and relationships in their data. No prior experience with geospatial analysis or Python knowledge is recommended. About Philippa: Philippa Burgess is a geospatial analyst and cybersecurity professional with expertise in GIS, AI, and resilience planning. She holds an M.S. in Human Security & Geospatial Intelligence and an M.A. in Urban Planning from USC and is pursuing a Privacy Law & Cybersecurity Certificate at USC Gould School of Law. She is a USGS Intern, WTM Ambassador, Microsoft Student Learn Ambassador, and NICE Cybersecurity Career Ambassador, leading the Redefine Possible: Women Who Inspire & Tech Series through 2025. #mentormecollective #wtm #workshopwednesday #data #geospatial #womentechmakers
