A visibly emotional Carolyn told Truly how traumatic the experience was: "It was a lot - especially when you were going to different homes and you didn't know what's going on... It was a lot for me." On top of that, Carolyn's only remaining sibling at that time "disowned" her and she was left "alone" - being told that she would "never be loved." So Carolyn forged her own path and found love when she eventually had her own children - but it wasn't long before they started asking questions about their mom's biological family, especially Carolyn's eldest daughter, Chanel. After years of trying to persuade her mom to let her track down their family tree, "persistent" Chanel bought an ancestry test early last year and gave it to her mom for her birthday. A month later the results came back with 1,500 names for Chanel to work through - she contacted the first name on the list through Facebook, her second cousin who claimed not to know who Chanel was. Undeterred, she reached out to his Facebook friends one by one, until... "One person responded." That person turned out to be Chanel's long-lost aunt, Nicole - and Carolyn's biological sister she never knew existed. A "very emotional" video call followed - and through tears of joy, Carolyn learned she had five siblings she had never expected to find. But there was one surprise remaining - and nothing could have prepared Carolyn for what came next...
