Kim Kardashian says family feels support over Bruce Jenner's transition to Caitlyn Jenner at CFDA Aw
(2 Jun 2015) KIM KARDASHIAN TALKS ABOUT REACTION TO CAITLYN JENNER'S DEBUT AT CFDA AWARDS Kim Kardashian said her family is feeling the public support Monday (1 JUNE 2015) surrounding her stepfather Bruce Jenner's transition to Caitlyn. "Everyone has been so supportive and so amazing and I think that that's all we could really ask for is kindness and we feel that," said Kardashian while arriving at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards in New York. Vanity Fair released its July cover with a photo of a long-haired Jenner in a strapless corset, legs crossed, sitting on a stool, with the headline, "Call me Caitlyn." Caitlyn Jenner also debuted a new Twitter account which broke a record for fastest time to reach 1 million followers, according to Guinness World Records. Kardashian was accompanied by her husband, rapper and fellow fashion enthusiast Kanye West. Both were scheduled to present awards at the event. West was presenting the Fashion Icon award to Pharrell Williams, while Kardashian was giving the Media Award to Instagram. "I'm just grateful able to be myself (long pause) and that's really popular these days," said Williams, alluding to Jenner. Jenner was the talk of the red carpet among other celebrities in attendance as well. "I just think it's incredible that Caitlyn Jenner ... through the platform of reality television, which is quite often and for very many good reasons not given much respect in the popular culture, is going to have the platform to show this intentionally personal, frightening journey that he and eventually she is on and to use the platform that the Kardashians have built to bring this civil rights issue to the forefront of popular culture over the course of the next 6, 8, 10, 12 months however long the story runs I think that that's amazing and was inconceivable even two year ago so I think we live in interesting times," marveled actor Joshua Jackson. "Anything she ever wants to borrow I've got 50 years of archives sittin' around," said designer Betsey Johnson, who was there to receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Also there was model Gigi Hadid, who was co-presenting three awards with actor Zachary Quinto to recognize emerging talent in fashion. Hadid is a rising star herself in the industry. "It's crazy but I feel very lucky and I feel like I'm getting to work with people that you know they want me to be in their campaigns because I'm making connections with them and they're people that I genuinely enjoy being around and talking to and having, you know, great conversations with so I love working with them and I'm really lucky to be, yeah, a part of it. A part of all of this." She also talked about how she took to the stage with her friend Taylor Swift last weekend in Detroit, Michigan to perform Swift's song "Bad Blood." Hadid said walking a runway is more nerve-wracking than dancing on stage because "They were all there for Taylor and we're there for Taylor so it was like just dancing on stage with my friend. It wasn't about me and I think that's what takes the nerve off, you know?" Other celebrities to attend the CFDA Awards included designer Victoria Beckham, actresses Katie Holmes, Taraji P. Hensen and January Jones, and models Karlie Kloss and Hannah Davis, plus TV personality Kelly Osbourne.
