2025-09-30 8:30 am Tuesday celebration of the Holy Mass of the 26th Week in Ordinary Time
Good morning everyone and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass and the Memorial of Saint Jerome whose mastery of languages enabled him to translate Hebrew and Greek books of the Bible into Latin, the language of the common people of the time; this translation is called the Vulgate. He is a Doctor of the Church, and patron of scripture scholars, translators, archaeologists, librarians and students. In the reading from the Holy Gospel today, Saint Luke tells that when the days drew near for Jesus to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him. The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 87: "God is with us."
