Sacramento neighborhood closed off after 2 men shot, killed

Two men were killed in a north Sacramento-area shooting Monday afternoon, officials said. Zach Eaton, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department, said they got reports just after 1 p.m. about somebody who was shot in a field. Officers went to the 800 block of Lampasas Avenue just north of Rio Linda Boulevard and found that person and a second shooting victim nearby. Eaton said both men were transported to area hospitals where they later died of their injuries.
