John Wick Ballerina: How Hollywood Girlbosses Destroyed Female Action Heroes
There was a time when female action heroes were titans—flawed, hardened, and unforgettable. Sarah Connor didn’t start the Terminator franchise as a badass; she earned every scar, every muscle, and every ounce of grit through years of trauma, isolation, and the burden of knowing the world was headed for apocalypse. Ellen Ripley didn’t survive Alien because she was the smartest or strongest—she survived because she was cautious, determined, and deeply human, battling both the Xenomorph and her own mounting fear. These characters weren’t perfect. They bled, they broke, and yet they kept going. But somewhere along the way, Hollywood forgot why these women resonated. Instead of writing real characters, studios began crafting vessels of corporate empowerment—what we now call the “girlboss.” The “girlboss” is not the problem because she’s a woman. She’s the problem because she’s hollow. She is a character built from the outside in—defined by aesthetics, attitude, and ability, but rarely by flaws, vulnerability, or actual growth. She’s confident without cause, competent without struggle, and unstoppable without stakes. She doesn’t become—she simply is. #johnwick #starwars #terminator #alien #shehulk #ringsofpower #captainmarvel Check out my playlist on Robocop and Terminator here - • Robocop and Terminator Check out my playlist on Predator here - • New to Predator?
