The Cleveland Torso Murders: The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run
Between 1935 and 1938, a series of dismembered bodies were discovered in and around Kingsbury Run--a desolate, industrial area of Cleveland, Ohio. Many of the victims were never identified. The press called the killer The Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run. The case drew national attention. Not only because of its brutality, but because it unfolded under the watch of Safety Director Elliot Ness, the same lawman famous for taking down Al Capone. Yet, despite intense investigations, interrogations, and a prime suspect Ness believed responsible--the killer was never brought to justice. This is a story about vulnerability during the Great Depression. But it's also a story about how easily forgotten people on the margins can be.
