Police vans STORYLINE: German police arrested 35 Polish fans for disturbing the peace in Dortmund ahead of Poland's World Cup game against Germany on Wednesday. A recent spate of hooliganism in Poland has raised fears of violence from the country's fans. Rafal Wasiek one of 68 Polish police officers based in Germany for the World Cup said German and Polish police were cooperating in spotting potential flash points. Wasiek said "We have a lot of spotters here, I mean these are police officers from Poland without uniforms in plain clothes and they are working here supporting German police officers and informing them about potential troublemakers." Berlin authorities say they are confident that the encounter between the once geopolitical rivals, but now common members of the European Union will remain peaceful. Polish police provided German officials before the tournament with a list of 500 hooligans banned from entering stadiums in Poland. Recent incidents of hooliganism have occurred in Katowice, Krakow and Warsaw. FIFA also confirmed on Wednesday that tournament organisers would be paying special attention to crowd behaviour surrounding the match Last week, German police stepped up checks on the Polish border. Some 20-thousand Poland fans are expected to make the trip to Dortmund for the game.
