Being able to read faster is an essential skill that you need as a student and as a professional and I am the World Speed Reading Champion, so if you want to learn 3 proven ways to instantly speed up your reading. In this video, we're going to show you how to read faster and remember what you read more effectively. There are three-speed reading techniques that you can use to improve your reading speed and comprehension. By following these tips, you'll be able to read faster and understand more material! So don't wait any longer, watch this video and start reading at a faster pace today! The first tip has to do with Subvocalization. This is that little voice in our head that pronounces every single word as we are reading. This habit is developed because when we learned how to read initially as children, we were taught to read out loud: ‘This is a book’. And as we got older, we kept doing the same thing in our head, just without saying it out loud. This really slows you down because now your reading speed is limited to how fast you can speak, which is an average of 150-250 words per minute. But don’t worry it’s very common and here’s what you can do to limit it. 1. Don’t fight it, you can never completely get rid of it. Just try to consciously lower the volume of that voice in your head as you read so you become less dependent on it. 2. Use a pointer to direct your attention to the reading material. Move it at a speed where it is hard for you to subvocalize, faster than 250 words per minute. And push yourself to read at this new speed. This will automatically limit the subvocalization, allowing you to read faster and comprehend more. The second tip is on how you can effectively grasp and remember more from the material that you are reading. Clearly decide what you want to get out of the material that you are reading. Is it a novel that you are reading for enjoyment? Is it for your next test? Or research for your business project? Decide your goal before starting to read and keep that in mind as you read. When you do this, it causes your brain to automatically pick up and retain the information you need for that goal. Because you don’t need to remember every single word, you can get 90% of the information you need from less than 40% of the words. And doing this causes your brain to pick up and remember the material from the book that is needed to fulfill your specific purpose for that reading session. The third tip is more of a mindset shift. There’s this misconception that reading faster will cause your comprehension to drop. When that is not the case, in fact it’s the opposite. Our brain is capable of processing information at very high speeds, so it likes to absorb information fast. When we read dreadfully slow, which most people do at about 200 wpm, our brain gets bored and starts to drift off into distracting thoughts. This is why you are reading a book here, but in your head, you’re thinking about your next vacation instead. So, instead of reading slowly to grasp information if you were to simply increase the speed with which you read. Your brain will start to get stimulated and pay more attention to what you are reading. Allowing your speed and comprehension to increase! These are just a few of the study tips in regard to reading FASTER that have allowed me to triple my reading speed and get through my reading material in half the time with full comprehension. #reading #challenge #readingchallenge #studymotivation #studytips #study #emmaalam #speedreading #ace #alevel #alevels2022 #readmorebooks #inspiration #relatable #tipsandtricks #hacks #studying
