I FINALLY Cracked Alex O'Connor's HIdden Dilemma!
On the Jubilee podcast, Alex O'Connor raised a powerful dilemma against Christianity. The ultimate conclusion is that either God is not good or the Bible is not reliable. Now here is the argument as I formulated it. I tried to steelman it. Just quickly talking through the highlights, the basic idea is you've got the commands and harm. If that, then God is not good. That's one premise. Then you've got, if not commanded, God didn't actually command it, then scripture is not reliable. It's saying he did command it and he really didn't. Then you've got harm occurred. Innocent people were harmed in the conquests of Canaan. This is the power shot, do the disjunctive law of excluded middle. Either God commanded it or it's not the case that God commanded it, then you go through all the options. Let's assume God commanded it. This ends in number eight, God is not good or the scripture is not reliable. Okay, then we do the next one. Again, we derive God is not good or scripture is not reliable. Then we discharge our assumptions and we get for the conclusion that God is either not good or Scripture is not reliable. Hope you're well and we'll see you on the next video. #alexoconnor #canaanites #bible
