NEW FACEBOOK PAGE -   / backyardchefscasualkitchen   NOTE: You have to answer all membership questions to join it's fully automated Ingredients 1 tbsp olive oil 1 lb (450g) chicken breast or thighs, cubed Salt and pepper, to taste 1 onion, diced 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 carrots, sliced 2 celery stalks, sliced 1/2 cup pearl barley, rinsed 6 cups (1.5 L) chicken broth or stock 1 bay leaf 1 tsp dried thyme 1/2 tsp dried rosemary Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish) NOTE: I used Herbs De Provence    • Herbs De Province Traditional Blend f...   Pressure Cook: Secure the lid and set the Instant Pot to "Pressure Cook" (or "Manual") on High for 15 minutes. Once finished, allow a natural release for 10 minutes, then perform a quick release to release any remaining pressure. I always saute using a pan - I find the Instant pot too hot to saute For stovetop cooking: Total time: About 1 hour. Prep and sautéing: 10-15 minutes. Simmering: After adding all ingredients, simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the barley is tender. For a slow cooker: Total time: 4 to 8 hours, depending on heat setting. On high: 3-4 hours. On low: 6-8 hours. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker and let it cook until the barley and chicken are tender.
