How To Fix Tennis Elbow - Exercises For Pain Relief

In today's FREE self myofascial release video, Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses the symptoms, causes, and treatment for tennis elbow. The forearm muscle known as the extensor carpi radialis brevis often causes tennis elbow. This muscle originates from the lateral epicondyle of the humorous (fun fact: the medical term for tennis elbow is lateral epicondylitis) and attaches at the posterior aspect of the third metacarpal. The primary function of the extensor carpi radialis brevis is to extend the wrist. Unfortunately, the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle often experiences wear and tear over time, leading to the formation of fascial adhesions (AKA scar tissue), resulting in a loss of elasticity causing the tendons of this muscle to tug at the lateral epicondyle. The end result is inflammation of the tendons and pain at the lateral epicondyle. After explaining the symptoms and causes, I'll demonstrate myofascial release techniques tennis elbow which will help restore elasticity, followed by stretches and then an exercise to help strengthen the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle. Perform these home exercises for tennis elbow pain relief every other day for the next 4-6 weeks, and of course, leave a comment letting me know how your treatment's progressing.
