Several risk factors and triggers can induce and exacerbate atopic dermatitis; however, there are also several protective factors that can improve and/or reduce the risk of developing atopic dermatitis. Treatment involves avoidance of triggers and certain types of food as well as topical corticosteroids and other topical and oral treatments as well.
