2021 Live Review 6 | AP Computer Science A | Class Inheritance & Digital Exam 2021 Information

In this AP Daily: Live Review session for AP Computer Science A, we will practice several of the skills assessed on multiple-choice questions and we will examine a Class free-response question. We will begin with the Bit of the Day, which will provide information specific to the digital exam demonstrating how and where to find the 2021 Digital Exam Guide on AP Central. Then we will look at a series of multiple -choice questions as we discuss the skill being assessed by each and strategies that can be used to solve them. We will use a little of our time to review inheritance and the relationship between super and subclasses by creating a Duck super class that can have two subclasses: MallardDucks and RubberDucks. For follow-up from the review session, students will create objects for instances of each subclass. Next, we will explore the Step Tracker free-response question from the 2019 exam. As we look at Step Tracker, we will review class constructors and method header syntax, as well as the correct way to declare, initialize, access and update instance variables. We will also review the importance of floating-point arithmetic when using integers to calculate an average.
