Cops close in on mystery midnight guest in Arima businessman's killing A businessman was found brutally murdered inside his Arima home after police discovered a bloody scene and evidence pointing to a possible midnight visitor who later left with several stolen items. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Sterling Francois of Trestrail Development, Arima, the owner of Kyva General Contractors Limited, Langley’s and an auto rental company. Police said officers from the Arima Criminal Investigations Department responded to the residence around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 20, 2026, after a relative raised concern when repeated calls to Francois went unanswered. Investigators found blood-stained footprints throughout the living and dining areas, with blood splatter leading to the staircase. Francois was discovered at the top of the stairs lying face down and covered in blood. A cutlass with apparent blood stains was found at the scene, along with a plastic cup believed to have been used by the suspect. Police enquiries revealed Francois returned home around 8:40 p.m. on Friday June 19 with a male passenger, who entered the house with him. Shortly after midnight, around 12:01 a.m., the man was seen leaving the property dressed in dark clothing and carrying a knapsack. The suspect boarded a brown 4x4 pickup and travelled west along Scallion Circular before disappearing. Relatives later reported several items missing from the home, including Francois’ iPhone, laptop, PlayStation and wallet. Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne visited Francois’ home on Sunday June 21, 2026, as investigations continue into the businessman’s killing.— Story by I.A.N News
