The Consequences of Brexit for Financial Advisors

The Consequences of Brexit for Financial Advisors

The impact of Brexit can be felt everywhere. Independent financial advisors and our clients have been hard-hit by the UK’s decision to leave the EU – and as of January 2021, all UK financial advisors have had their European financial advice passports revoked. This means that we can no longer advise any clients who do not live in the UK. Some of our clients at Interface Financial Planning have been with us for decades, and have left the UK to live their dream lives in different countries around the world. But, those now living in EU nations – including Ireland – can no longer use our services, or many of the financial products they’ve managed their money with over the years. In this episode, Alan writes a heartfelt letter to some of our longest-standing clients living abroad: about what Brexit means for their EU accounts, UK accounts, UK state pension payments and everything else that affects expats’ finances – as well as what it means for financial advisors in the UK.
