We thank you for joining us for our Sunday morning worship service here on YouTube. We pray that you feel God’s love around you as you join us. On this beautiful but hot Sunday morning, July 17, 2022, we began our service by listening to our organist, Sarah Scovel, play “I’ve Got Peace like a River” and “I Need Thee Every Hour,” spirituals by Lowry. Rev. John P. Wilson made the announcements of the church for the week and then Susie Kleinbeck, our liturgist this Sunday, came forward and led everyone in the Call to Worship, a responsive reading, followed by everyone standing (as they are able) and singing “To God Be the Glory,” # 634, from our hymnal “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Ms. Kleinbeck then lead the congregation in the Prayer of Confession, followed by the Assurance of Pardon, and the Gloria Patri, as well as the Prayer for Illumination. This was followed by the Epistle reading from the Colossians, chapter 1, verses 15 through 23. Sarah Scovel then sang and played “I Surrender All,” by Wolaver. Rev. John P. Wilson then came forward and read the Gospel Lesson from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, verses 25 through 37, which was followed by a prayer and then his sermon entitled “Downright Neighborly.” After Rev. Wilson’s sermon, he invited everyone to stand and sing “Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love,” # 203 from our hymnal “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). We then entered into a time where we shared the joys and concerns of the church, where Pastor John shared the joys and concerns of the church, and asked if there were any others. He also reminded everyone of any cards in the Narthex for their signatures. This was followed by prayers of the people. After our prayer time we come to the time of the collection of the offering. While the offering plates were being passed around, our organist, Sarah Scovel, played an “Untitled” piece A. Gottschaig. Once the offering plates had been passed around, everyone stood as they are able and sang the “Doxology” (used by permission) followed by the Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Lord’s Prayer as follows: "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be they name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen." Our members then sang, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” # 475 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Rev. Wilson then gave the Charge and Benediction. Our organist, Sarah Scovel, then played the Postlude entitled “Lead On, Oh King Eternal” by Thygerson. Most of the congregation remained as there was a congregational meeting following the prelude to decide on the possible sell of the manse. First Presbyterian Church 201 S. 5th Street P.O.
